Contains: Oats *Grains and Oilseeds are grown in close proximity to one another and therefore different types of grains and oilseeds can be unintendedly commingled during growing, harvesting, storing and transportation, making it difficult to maintain all traces of different grains and oilseeds from entering into their intended individual processing streams. The unintended comingling of grains and oilseeds in the bulk handling system is generally expected in the context of current industry practice and is recognized under Canadian and US Grain Standards Acts. The processing industry relies on the cleaning process to sort grains and oilseeds prior to further processing. The cleaning process relies on the physical properties of the grains and oilseeds, such as seed size and shape to enable sorting. While the cleaning process is proven to reduce levels of unintended presence of trace amounts of unwanted grains and oilseeds it may not entirely eliminate them.
