Cyanotech is the first producer to extract astaxanthin from microalgae in-house. This process uses high-pressure CO2, free of any chemical solvents, to extract the astaxanthin from the algal cells. Then it is blended with safflower oil to produce an oleoresin, ready for encapsulation.
