Fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS-95-P)
(1) biological: aerobic bacterial count≤1000 CFU/g; moulds≤25 CFU/g; coliform bacteria≤3.0 MPN/g; yeast≤25 CFU/g. Pathogenic bacteria (Salmonella, Shigella, Staphylococcus aureus, and Streptococcus hemolyticus) must not be detected.
(2)chemical: pH4.5-7.0; Moisture≤5.0%; ash content≤0.4%, Fructo-Oligosaccharide content≥95 %, ash content≤0.1%, arsenic≤0.5 mg/kg, lead ≤ 1.0 mg/kg.
(3)physical: White to slightly yellow amorphous powder, with a soft and refreshing sweet taste, no visible impurities to, and no odor.
(4)Packaging method: Inner packaging: PE plastic packaging bag; Outer packaging: kraft paper bag.
(5)Intended Use: as a reprocessing raw material, added to infant formula, dairy products, beverages, and baked goods.
(6)Processing method: saccharification, decolorization and filtration, ion exchange, concentration, dry.
Fructooligosaccharide (FOS) was made from sucrose using a specific enzyme from Aspergillus niger and devel oped as a low energy bulking sweetener with a sweetness of about 30% of sucrose. FOS which is manufactured enzymatically from sucrose is a mixture of 1-kestose, nystose and 1F-β-fructofuranosyl-nystose, which is formed respectively from one, two and three molecules of fructose bound linearly to the fructose residue of sucrose with β-1,2 linkage.
