HABANERO CHILES IRRADIATED (C09I)

The Habanero Chile (Capsicum Chinense) is in the same family as Scotch Bonnet, Wiri Wiri and Scorpion chiles which are among the hottest in the world. In 2000 the Habanero was inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records as the hottest chile, but has since been surpassed by numerous other varieties. Believed to have originated in Cuba before being taken to the Yucatan Peninsula, Habaneros are now grown in Belize, Costa Rica, Texas and California. They boast an intense heat and flavor mix with underlying delicately fruity, citrus-like flavor that mixes well with tropical fruits and tomatoes. • Habaneros are green when unripe and gradually deepen to orange and red as they mature • Fresh peppers are anywhere from 1/2 inch to 2 inches long, and 1/2 to 1 inch wide with a bumpy, waxy skin • Loosely translated from Spanish "Habanero" means "from Havana" • Originally from the Amazon region of South America, this pepper migrated to Mexico and is now popular around the world.
