In response to your request regarding the “FDA” status of PPC Flexible Packaging film products we offer the following information.
PPC Flexible Packaging products comply with the following Food and Drug Administration Regulations:
21 CFR 177.1520 (c) (1.1) and (3.1): This regulation describes polypropylene and olefin copolymers that can be safely used in articles for packaging or holding food at low temperatures and/or room temperatures.
Adhesive:
When properly mixed, applied, and cured may be used in compliance with the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 21, Section 175.105-Adhesives.
Polypropylene
Complies with FDA regulation 21 CFR 177.1520 (Olefin polymers), paragraphs (c)3.1a and (c)3.2a, and may be used as articles or components of articles intended for use in contact with food, including use in articles used for packing or holding food during cooking. Finished articles may contact all food types identified in Table 1 of 21 CFR 176.170(c) under Conditions of Use A through H as described in Table 2 of 21 CFR 176.170(c).
Polyester
Complies with both the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act of 1958 and all applicable indirect food additive regulations found in 21 CFR § 177.1630 under conditions of Use A through J and in accordance with good manufacturing practices (defined in 21 CFR § 174.5).
Polyethylene
This product complies with FDA regulations 21 CFR 177.1520 and 21 CFR 177.1350 which allow the use of olefin polymers and copolymers in articles that are intended for use in direct contact with food.
