LIQUID SUGAR (72000)

Lantic Inc. operates cane sugar refineries in Vancouver, B.C. and Montreal QC, and a beet sugar factory in Taber, AB, as well as a distribution centre in Toronto, ON, all of which produce and distribute the Rogers / Lantic brand. The main ingredient or component of Rogers / Lantic Brand products packed at our facilities is Sugar (Sucrose). There are no other ingredients except corn starch (as an anticaking agent) used to produce icing sugar, and potable water supplied by the city for liquid products. All our packaging lines are dedicated to a single product to prevent any possibility of cross-contamination with any other products. In addition, GMP training sessions are given regularly to raise employees’ awareness regarding cross-contamination risks. If a major change occurs that could affect the quality and/or safety of our finished products, or if a new ingredient is introduced, an official communication will be made to all customers. Our products are labeled as per Division 18 of the Food and Drug Regulations (C.R.C., c. 870) & Volume 15 – Sweetening Agents in Canadian Food Compositional Standards as follows: a) Sugar (all white sugar granulations including but not limited to Fine, Extra Fine, Sanding, Medium, Coarse, and Instant Dissolving) – as per section 15.1.1. b) Liquid Sugar (67.5ºBx) or Liquid Sucrose – as per sections 15.1.2 and B.18.005. c) Liquid Invert Sugar (72.5-77.5ºBx, 50-105% Invert ODB) – as per sections 15.1.2 and B.18.005. d) Icing Sugar (max 5% starch) – as per section 15.1.5 . e) Dark Brown, Light Yellow, Golden Yellow, Demerara Style Brown, Nature’s/Plantation Raw (Golden Brown) Sugars – as per section 15.1.6. f) Golden Syrup – as per section 15.1.7. . g) Refiners’ Molasses – as per section 15.1.10. As per Section B.01.010(3)(b) of Food and Drug Regulations (C.R.C., c. 870), if sweetening agents (namely Granulated Sugar, Liquid Sugar or Liquid Invert sugar) are used singly, or in combination as ingredients in prepackaged products they shall be declared with the common name “Sugar.” For the Products containing added sugars, manufacturers are advised to consult regulatory authorities or experts to ensure compliance with labeling requirements.
