Zemea® USP-FCC Propanediol (29000110)
Primient Covation 1,3-propanediol is a clear, colorless, slightly sweet odor glycol derived from a sustainable and renewable corn sugar fermentation process. It is soluble in water, has a viscosity of 52cP at 20°C, a specific gravity of 1.053 at 20°C, and a neutral pH. Propanediol does not support the growth or survival of pathogens and in fact, when above a 20% concentration, inhibits the growth of microorganisms. It is known to have a low water activity (below 0.6aW) but this is not routinely analyzed.
Zemea® USP-FCC Propanediol is at least 99.90% pure and is tested for and meets specifications set forth is ASTM International and the United States Pharmacopeia-Food Chemical Codex monographs associated with biobased 1,3-propanediol. 1,3-Propanediol is generally recognized as safe by the FDA (GRN No. 302) for its defined intended uses.
Primient Covation’s biobased 1,3-propanediol has an average 1,3-propanediol purity of greater than 99.96% for a random sample set of 100 for the last 2 years. The next largest component is water, with a specification for water content allowing 1000ppm (0.1%).
