TRANS-393W Antifoam (869431-LB-1)
Unlike many food ingredients, food-grade antifoam agents and de-foaming agents are normally
considered a “process aid” and “secondary direct food additive.”
Because of their additive status, they are therefore exempt from compliance with the
requirements of section 403(i)(2) of the act (requiring a declaration on the label of the common
or usual name of each ingredient when the food is fabricated from two or more ingredients). In
addition, because they are typically used as process aids, not as ingredients, antifoam agents are
generally not reported on the label of finished food products, and are themselves exempt from
nutritional information reporting.
This labeling and ingredient declaration exemption arises per CFR Title 21, Subpart G, Section
101.100 (a)(3)(ii)(a) & (c).
With the above exemption the AMSil Products do not impart any nutritional value to any food
product.
Sincerely,
Michael T. Jennings
