ADM Oils: Allergen Statement Concerning ADM Vegetable Oils On January 1, 2006, the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004 became effective requiring labeling of major food allergens in all food products and ingredients that are not raw agricultural commodities. “Major food allergens” are defined as any of the following: milk, eggs, fish, Crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, wheat, peanuts, and soybeans; or an ingredient that contains protein derived from one of these eight foods or food groups. The definition of “major food allergens” excludes any highly refined oil derived from one of the eight foods or food groups, and any ingredient derived from such oil. ADM bulk oil; soybean, canola, sunflower, peanut, cottonseed, corn, palm and coconut are produced as highly refined oils unless otherwise specified. Crude oil and oil supplies produced from a major food allergen using the process commonly known as “Cold Press” may not remove all traces of protein and thus may be subject to allergen labeling. Oils produced from peanuts and soybeans will identify these sources on their labeling as required by the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. All ADM refined vegetable oils do not have crustaceans, eggs, fish, milk, tree nuts, or wheat as ingredients. All ADM oil facilities have a documented allergen program suitable for their facility. Process flows prevent the cross contamination of unfinished oil with finished oil. Oils that are not considered highly refined are not co-mingled with highly refined oils.
