Only allergen used at FLM-Foodingredients is sulphite. To make sure that all regulations are taking place we have a few instructions. Items which contain sulphite are marked with a form that reads ‘allergen!’ (e.g. IBC). We produce according to specifications of our customer. For most customers the product contains sulphite, either <10 ppm (most products) or <50 ppm in the end product. For a few customers we produce without sulphite. Wash water will be let off and the tanks are rinsed, refilled with just water. Than we have a protocol that these products are produced first of the day, because the lines are clean en desinfected each night. These products are stored separed, and marked, from the ‘normal’ raw material, also each customer has their own article number, so it’s not possible to mix things up. To make sure the amount of sulphite that is used is correct, in an early stage of the process, we check our wash water regurarly, and if neccesary we take action in the form of checking the product on sulphite and eventually use the raw material for products that may contain 50 ppm sulphite in the end product, otherwise the product is blocked. The end product is also checked regurarly, both checks (wash water and end product) are done in our own lab. If, after checking the end product, result shows that the amount of sulphite is to high (meaning above 10 ppm for cans and polybags or 50 ppm for buckets) the product will be blocked. All personnal have a annual training day in which the control program is included.
