Meat and Bone Meal (AAFCO 9.41) is the rendered product from mammal tissues, including bone, exclusive of any added hair, hoof, horn, hide trimmings, manure, stomach and rumen contents except in such amounts as may occur unavoidably in good processing practices. It shall not contain added extraneous materials not provided for by this definition. If the product bears a name descriptive of its species, composition or origin it must correspond thereto. Ruminant Meat and Bone Meal cannot be fed to cattle or other ruminant animals.
A mixture of beef fats of a quality suitable for feeding. The fats are obtained from beef tissue during the commercial rendering process. Consists predominantly of glycerides esters of fatty acids without additions of free fatty acids or other materials obtained from fats. No less than 90% total fatty acids required, not more than 2.5% unsaponifiable matter, and not more than 1% insoluble impurities. Maximum free fatty acids and moisture must also be guaranteed. Because of antioxidant usage, the common name or names must be indicated, followed by the words "used as a preservative". Material must not contain material from animals that were chemically euthanized or sedated. It shall be stabilized with Kemin Naturox Premium Liquid and have no added BHA, BHT, Ethoxyquin, or other chemical antioxidants. All sites require insolubles less than 0.15%. Material processing conditions must meet the minimum time and temperature recommendations.
