Carrageenan - Histab 0610 (CAR 025)

Carrageenan is a natural, seaweed-derived food additive (extracted from red algae) used globally as a thickener, stabilizer, and emulsifier in foods like dairy products, plant-based milks, processed meats, and, increasingly, vegan alternatives.
Carrageenan is obtained from the extraction of natural strains of seaweeds of the class Rhodophyceae and is composed of potassium, sodium, magnesium and calcium salts of polysaccharide sulphate esters. This is a Calcium Iota carrageenan designed to produce highly elastic clear water gels. For water gels, this is typically combined with kappa carrageenan, locus bean gum and buffering salts for a complete system. This is also suitable for use in low fat, low sodium ground meat application as a fat replacer. This carrageenan forms very soft gels and is generally used for thickening and soft gelling purposes.
