Mangosteen fruit is rich in dietary fiber, especially pectin, and is high in the bioactive polyphenolic compounds, xanthones, which are found in its white pulp, and in even higher concentrations in its pericarp. The pericarp also contains catechins, polysaccharides and stilbenes.
